Behind the Lens

Hi! I'm Emily Yvonne Hendrix. Most of my friends call me "Em."

I entered this world on September 14th, 1996. I am a home educated teen Rebelutionary. God saw fit for me to be an only child yet I've always dreamed of having an older brother to look up to and a younger sister to take care of. My eyes are deep brown and my hair is auburn-brown, I am 5' 7" tall and I have never been to the doctor (except when I was born). I am related to President Adams. I very often get lost in thought, but I joke around too much for most people to notice.

My hobbies are photography, music and dancing.

I play the piano, guitar, violin, ukulele, mandolin and attempt to play whatever else I can get my hands on.

I like cats, ice skating, red hair, freckles, the color blue, Doctor Who, Star Trek, musicals, Calvin & Hobbes, chinchillas, classical music, snakes, electronics, Super Mario Bros, Kingdom Hearts, Minecraft, reading, writing, origami, art, volleyball, tennis, soccer, landscaping, composing music, sewing, quilting, cooking

My motto is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4.13) and Soli Deo Gloria - Do all things to the glory of God.

I dislike country music, sharks and Swiss cheese.

My Photography Journey

I've taken pictures ever since I could hold a camera, but really got interested in photography around ehh.. 2008. Late 2010, I had a photography drought but got re-inspired by Snap of the Shutter in mid-2011. I've since picked up my camera and never looked back. I am currently taking a photography course through the New York Institute of Photography (NYIP), and love it!
My desire is to capture God's creation and special moments in our lives.
I am a credentialed photojournalist for the PhotoWorld Magazine (NYIP e-zine/newsletter) and have been the Club Photographer for the Generation Joshua Club of Paducah and Club Reporter for the Geology Rocks! 4-H Club of Crittenden County. I love what I do! :)

I think cameras are a gift from God; why else would he want us to take pictures but to show His beauty to others and share about Him? Do all to the glory of God - Soli Deo Gloria!

 My History (so far :)

I was born in Nashville Tennessee. We moved to Indiana when I was 11 months old. In 2000 we moved to Western Kentucky! From a small city neighborhood in Speedway Indiana, to a friend's horse farm in 'the middle of nowhere'. And might I add it was the best place to be. Ever. We lived in a very small addition to a house (less than 400 square feet), therefore I was forced... *wink* to be outside nearly all the time. I have grown to love nature, the outdoors with everything in it, and first and foremost, Christ. We moved from the horse farm in 2005, and since then God has taken us many places from Burna to Joy Ky.
We had our own landscaping business from 2003  through 2004, it was hard work and a lot of fun. :) We have a family craft business, Glory Crafts. I also worked part time at a pizza restaurant (Pam's Pizza Round Up) late 2009 through mid-2010. My responsibilities included everything from making pizzas, sandwiches and salads, to washing dishes, sweeping floors, putting together pizza boxes and changing light bulbs. I really enjoyed working there! Now I design greeting cards through an online software called Send Out Cards and take on photography jobs I pick up here and there.

My Testimony

In 2005 I was reading a Bible story about Jesus healing sick people and Christ spoke to me. He said that I was the sick and the only way to healing was through Him. He said "follow Me."
I struggled with that for six years. Questioning my standing with Christ, and even trying to make up a testimony for myself. In March of 2011 on a Sunday evening at church, I was battling Christ and myself. As we were bowed in prayer, I saw God reach down His hand and say "trust Me."

And I did.

Never before had I felt such peace! I was filled with joy and love for Christ like never before. Thank You Lord.

My Dreams

I dream to photograph the Aurora Borealis
I dream to hug orphans in Africa and other Countries
I dream to share the gospel with my friends and family, and for them to come to know my Lord and Saviour
I dream to travel to Paris, Germany, England, Switzerland and Africa
I dream to love my neighbor as myself

My Hope
My hope is that when people see my photography, they see the beauty of Christ.
I hope you enjoy my photos! Please follow my blog and share it with others!

Thank you.

   Au Revoir!
